TAHE is excited to play a leading role in the redevelopment of Central Station, with the recent launch of draft plans for over-station development at Sydney’s railway icon.
The Masterplan will re-shape a 24-hectare site including the historic station and surrounding land, including a new public square and a park to be built over the rail lines.
The plan will provide a world-class mixed-use precinct incorporating tech and office space, hotel and residential developments, three new public spaces and new pedestrian connections to link up Surry Hills and Haymarket.
Transport Asset Holding Entity as the site owner is working with Transport for NSW to deliver the project.

Project key stats include:
- More than 60,000 sqm or just over six football fields of public domain, including:
- 20,700 sqm of parks, squares and plazas including three new major places Central Square, Central Green and Mortuary Station Garden
- new connections including Central Avenue, a pedestrian main street that will connect the Sydney Terminal Building with Mortuary Station and Prince Alfred Park in the south
- Around 850 new dwellings, including 15 per cent affordable housing and an additional target of 15 per cent diverse housing
- around 15 new buildings for a range of uses including tech, hotel, residential, restaurants, cafes, education, community and cultural uses
- three over-rail connections, including Devonshire Street bridge, to enhance pedestrian and bicycle access through Central Precinct and to surrounding neighbourhoods
